The
white rectangular object in the lower part of the Miami Circle feature is
a septic tank associated with the Brickell Point Apartments built in 1950. Paranormal
debunker James “Amazing” Randi asserted that the Miami Circle was
a modern feature related to the Brickell Point Apartment’s septic tank.
This view was adopted by Jerald Milanich, a curator at the Florida Museum
of Natural History, who visited the site in April 1999. Despite these claims,
archaeological, historical and geological evidence overwhelmingly supports an
ancient origin for the carved holes and basins that form the Miami Circle.
