Miami Circle - Visit - Brickell Park

Enlarged Item
Brickell Park

Brickell Park, located at 501 Brickell Ave, just to the south of the Miami Circle and the IconBrickell development is a quiet, shady spot in downtown. The big oak and gumbo limbo trees along with the natural ground contours hint at what the area must have looked like in the time of the Tequesta Indians.

The Brickell family mausoleum, dating to 1924, is located in the park, though the Brickell family burials have long since been relocated to other cemeteries in Miami. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Even earlier burials, made by the Tequesta Indians and their ancestors, are located at the park as well. It is possible that this prehistoric cemetery is part of the village site that included the Miami Circle.
