Brenda Swann, dressed out in a dry suit, is on the first dive team of
the day. She is briefed by Captain Keith Plaskett, who is project's diving safety officer
and in charge of logistics for the project. |
| Dr. Judy Bense, Director of University of West Florida's Archaeology
Institute, prepares to make her first dive of the season on the shipwreck. She will be
exploring the exposed bow structure of the ship with Dr. Roger Smith, State Underwater
Archaeologist, who is the project's Director. In the background, Chuck Meide, graduate

on the couple jet dredge outfall system that has been designed for the working platform. |
| Also visiting is Jim Spirek, who directed the first campaign of
excavation on the shipwreck in (1992-1995). Jim is an underwater archaeologist for the
state of South Carolina, but took time away from his duties to assist during the second
campaign of excavation. |
