Dear Friends and Colleagues,
March is Florida Archaeology Month!
Every year at this time we celebrate the depth, richness, and diversity of our state's past.
This year our theme is Viva Florida 500 and examining the last 500 years of Florida's cultural diversity through archaeology.
There will be many occasions around the state promoting Florida Archaeology Month. Please see the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) website to find an event in your area: http://flpublicarchaeology.org/FAM/. For our part, the Florida Department of State's Division of Historical Resources participates with short excerpts of Florida archaeology and cultural history from around the State. We will be featuring archaeological sites, artifacts, and cultural associations from state managed lands. These cultural resources are recorded, processed, analyzed, conserved, curated, and interpreted by our staff with collaborative support by associated land managing agency staff and our partners at FPAN. They are yours to appreciate, share and enjoy.
Thank you for joining in the celebration of Florida Archaeology Month!
