Florida's History Through Its Places
Pittman KEITH CABIN 1320 FL 179. 1886. Vernacular/Log cabin. The one room residence was constructed by William Thomas Keith, whose family lived in the same Holmes County area before he homesteaded the land on which the cabin is located. The cabin incorporates the “Louisiana roof” form, found only in the Gulf states region of the United States. Keith used squared notch corners for the wall assembly and constructed verandas on three sides of the cabin. The cabin is an excellent example of rare and endangered form of nineteenth century construction in Florida. Private. NR 2000.
