Florida First Ladies Gown Collection
In 1996 Dr. Patricia L. Clements initiated the idea of beginning a distinctive collection of first ladies gowns. At that time there were only two gowns in the Museum of Florida History's collection. Now there are more than a dozen with the collection still growing. Dr. Clements has also compiled background information on the histories of many items in the gown collection which is as fascinating as the first ladies themselves. The Museum of Florida History is pleased to officially recognize and credit her work in conceiving and developing the gown collection. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Clements has been named honorary Emeritus Curator of the Florida First Ladies Collection.
