The first governor to live in the Governor's Mansion was Napoleon B. Broward. He and his wife, Annie Douglass Broward, sit on the mansion's front porch with their children, circa 1907-09.


In an age before air conditioning, shady porches were a welcome relief from the Florida sun. Governor Park Trammell and his grandmother, Mrs. E. M. Park, sit outside the front entrance to the Governor's Mansion in 1914.

Governor Doyle Carlton used this image on his family Christmas card, circa 1929-33. The location is probably the front parlor of the Governor's Mansion.
