EDWARD L. FLEMMING, JR. - 1986 Florida Folk Heritage Award

Dr. Edward L. Flemming, Jr. (Dade City) was an active participant and promoter of the Florida Folk Festival from 1960 until his death in 1981. He served for many years as a member of the former Stephen Foster Memorial Board of Trustees, precursor of the Florida Folkife Council. His love for old folkways, especially folk music and traditional crafts, impelled him to encourage many young people to learn and appreciate traditional songs and skills. Flemming was highly respected by many Florida Folk Festival participants.
