Wayne Martin

Wayne Martin of Blountstown is a traditional musician and folklife advocate. A highly regarded fiddler, he studied with renowned Florida fiddler George Custer. Martin helped establish the Florida State Fiddlers Association and was instrumental in the designation of the Florida Folk Festival’s annual fiddle contest as the official state contest. He has served on the Florida Folklife Council and on the board of directors of the Will McLean Foundation. Martin has been active in historic preservation projects for Calhoun County, including restoring the county courthouse and assisting the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement. He also collects traditional and historical stories about Calhoun County, and is an exceptional storyteller.
